Cooper-Siegel & Sharpsburg Community Libraries Summer Learning 2021
June 5– August 14
Read, explore, and connect this summer!
What is Summer Learning?
Our Summer Learning Challenge encourages people of all ages to read, explore, and connect this summer. Earn points for both reading and completing activities. Research suggests that kids and teens who read books that they have chosen over the summer are more likely to strengthen their reading proficiency. Research also suggests that reading reduces stress and helps keep your brain healthy. Our Summer Learning Challenge encourages everyone in our community to keep their bodies and minds healthy by reading.
How do I register?
Go to carnegielibrary.beanstack.org or register by downloading the Beanstack app from your mobile device’s app store. Have an account from previously using Beanstack? You’ll use the same login information (and just choose “Forgot Your Username or Password” if you did). New to Beanstack? Choose to “Register as an Individual or Family” to get yourself and the whole family ready to track their summer reading and activities.
How does it Work?
Earn points for reading and completing activities. Reading or listening to books gets you a point. For adults OR if you are reading/listening to longer books you can count every 20 minutes you spend reading for a point. Reading the newspaper, a magazine, or a webcomic also count for a point!
Earn even more points by completing activity challenges with fun ways to read, explore the world, and connect with our community. These repeatable activities earn you points each time you do them.
Younger kids (babies – kindergarten) receive a rubber duckie when they earn 15 points. Older kids (grades 1st – 5th), teens (grades 6-12), and adults (18+) can create their own button. And, in addition to the button, adults get a raffle ticket for every 15 points. Earn 30 points or more to win a free book! How many points can you earn this summer?
When adults register, you’ll also be automatically subscribed to the library’s fun and informative weekly Summer Samplers, packed with recipes, articles, book lists and more! Find each Sampler here as they’re published each Thursday as well.
Stop by the Cooper-Siegel or Sharpsburg Community Library to pick up your prizes and to enter raffles. Prizes must be picked up from the library.
