Ukranian Eggs Workshop Series

An event every week that begins at 1:00pm on Saturday, repeating until June 1, 2019
Marilan will be offering a 3-week hands-on class where you design, wax, dye and complete your own Ukrainian eggs with Marilan’s guidance. During the 3 Saturday sessions, you will not only learn the proper use of tools and techniques, but also the cultural history of this art form, including the meaning of the various colors and symbols. No prior art skill needed. 18+ or accompanied by parent or guardian. $30 for all 3 sessions (materials included).
Marilan (Hovanec) Caito is a highly seasoned Ukrainian Egg Artist. For more than 40 years, she has offered demonstrations and classes in the art of Pysanky at community centers, libraries, nursing homes as well as CCAC and Pitt’s leisure learning programs. Of Carpatho Rusyn decent, Marilan is a third generation psyanky artist. Her passion is to introduce the art form, along with its rich history and traditions to new audiences throughout the Pittsburgh area.
