Teen Digital Game Design Intensive Camp – Sharpsburg
July 10 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)
An event every day that begins at 12:00pm, repeating until July 12, 2019
This FREE hands-on summer camp is sponsored by the Triboro Ecodistrict and presented by the Pittsburgh International Game Developers Association and Global Game Jam Next.
For one week, 10 middle and high school students will gather to get their game on. Youth across the globe will be learning and making their own games through GGJ NEXT during the month of July.
Triboro youth will power up over lunch-and-learns with Pittsburgh International Game Design Association and other community professionals in the know. On the final day of the intensive, participants will showcase their playable games that create community conversations leading to greater health and happiness.
Teens (age 12-18) will evaluate what makes the games they play so good, then dive into storytelling, perspective, graphics, mechanics, sound, and the interconnectedness of designing games. Youth will be coached by local game design professionals while participating in Global Game Jam Next. GGJ Next will connect local teens to a network of creators around the globe!
This is an intensive camp that meets on 5 consecutive days (M-F) for 4 hours per day. Participants are expected to attend all 5 days. Daily lunch will be provided.
Registration for this program is online at bit.ly/TriboroVGDI.
The deadline to apply is Monday 6/24. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance on Friday 6/28.
Preference is given to students in the Triboro: Sharpsburg, Millvale, and Etna. Students who attend schools in the Fox Chapel Area School District and Shaler Area School District are also welcome to apply.
Final selection is based on where applicants live, when they submitted their application, and the quality of their responses.
