Charles Dickens: The Man & His Work

April 28 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) is probably the greatest of the Victorian novelists and one of the greatest writers in the English language. He was poetic prose stylist who also created unforgettable stories and characters. He was also a sharp satirist and an activist whose concerns about society are still relevant today. Your speaker, Marsha Maietta will talk about Charles Dickens, the man and his work and about the local branch of the Dickens Fellowship.

Marsha Maietta, a practicing attorney in the downtown law firm of Welch, Gold, Siegel & Fiffik, has been a member of the Pittsburgh Branch of the Dickens Fellowship since 1994. She is currently the Fellowship’s social chairwoman and the editor of the newsletter and the yearbook. Marsha is also a member (actually the Brigadier) of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers (the local Sherlock Holmes club) and the Jane Austen Society. In addition to literature she is interested in art, film and travel.
